235 years ago a tyrannical super power thrust 700 troops into the town of Lexington and only 38 militia were fully prepared to meet the incursion. It was an easy win for the Crown. But, the shot heard ’round the world rallied patriots from every town to stop the Redcoats advancing on Concord, their real objective, to capture John Hancock, Samuel Adams and the weapons cache.
There the Redcoats were repelled April 19, 1775. In their retreat back to Boston, 250 British soldiers fell to the patriot’s marksmanship. Before the words were ever penned in the Bill of Rights, each patriot knew in his heart of hearts the meaning of “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state…”
We still have a measure of freedom because patriots laid it all on the line and eternal vigilance must be our theme. The closing sentence of the Declaration of Independence describes their commitment, “And for the support of this declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”
We must support vetted candidates who truly represent “We the people,” and Be the patriot, rally your neighborhood to vote, and revitalize our free state.
I appeal to you not for bullets but ballots!
