Politicians often voice pride, political position, power, even patriotism, the value of “seniority,” and, of course, money.
“What ever happened to “We the people…?” We have heard about winning in 2012. Yes, just around the corner are 2010 elections. But if we win, WHAT do we “win” — more of the same with a little “change?” Just THE seat? Too little.
The Declaration Of Independence affirms, “…Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed….” and then closes, you may recall, “….For the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.”
In your innermost being you have the capacity to pledge for your county, state and “we the people” your sacred honor. But so does the candidate.
Let’s propel to office persons of character who have two elephant-size ears to listen and one elephant-like brain that never forgets we stand on the the US Constitution and Party Platform! And what about the tongue and heart? Those of us who enjoy the old “Western” movies, remember the “Indian” saying, “White man speaks with forked tongue.” It is a public official’s sacred honor, with two ears, to do twice as much listening as talking, and their sacred honor propels their voice and vote to represent “we the people” and the platform tenets. It’s time to have the right candidates with right solutions – right now!
“We the people” must support candidates who speak with a true tongue. Will you pledge your sacred honor? Will you listen, get involved with your precinct, party, perhaps run for office – certainly raise your voice to make a difference, and vote. If America wakes up and mutually pledges her sacred honor there is great hope. Got sacred honor?
